beauty arrested me

beauty arrested me for a time
captivated my sights beyond imagination
led me to sing choruses that echo love
stilled my longings evading combustion

held me when my limbs felt weak
wiped my tears when they fell
found me in playing hide and seek
built me heaven when life was hell

beauty arrested me for a time
captivated my sights beyond imagination
led me to sing choruses of love
stilled my longings from combustion

but time has passed when beauty left
left me in a crying well
torn my heart no treasures held
have you now gone so far away

beauty arrested me for a time
captivated my sights beyond imagination
led me to sing choruses of love
stilled my longings from combustion

is there a sign if return was possible?
a hope to see you more again?
is your leave of absence consolable?
cause right now the pain is unbearable…

beauty arrested me for a time
captivated my sights beyond imagination
led me to sing choruses of love
but now my longings are all but open
nearing to the point of combustion

    1. Charsmashburn,

Thanks for dropping by and reading. I guess I try to write in that manner because i’m a musician as well.

    1. Classic Nyer,
Thanks for the comment. I don’t intend it to, but i guess since i do write lyrics and on occasions mesh them together for a song, i think that’s why some of my poetry follows the same pattern. I like it to have some sort of rhythm.

  1. I’m delighted to find you through The High Calling. We have lots of poets who contribute to the community–and I hope you’ll find a wonderfully warm and inspirational place within the network. I know I have. Thanks for joining us!

    1. Denadyer70,
Thanks for visiting, and I’d be sure to read up those poets over at The High Calling. Glad to find good resources there I should say.

Thanks for reading…it’s funny how our personal feelings and thoughts are shared by others as well.

  2. Strong repeating stanza.

“is there a sign if return was possible?
a hope to see you more again?
is your leave of absence consolable?
cause right now the pain is unbearable…” this was my favorite so emotional, really tugged at my heart. Beautiful poem!

    1. Mindlovemisery,
Thanks for reading and visiting my blog. That’s the part where hope questions reality, where things are left on just painful hopeful waiting for something but at the same time it looks pretty hopeless. Well, if there are words to explain that.

  3. I’ve often thought that my openness to awe (arresting beauty as you so aptly put it) has saved my soul from cynicism. In my life I’ve found that engagement with life and art renewed time and again. As a composer and singer I appreciate the song like quality. Lovely work.

    1. Anna,
Thanks for the comment and the compliment. Art to me is a maze, where it takes a lifetime to discover, yet forever to comprehend. Art, we can appreciate on the surface, and it has a lasting appeal to those who want to scour its depths, breath taking and endless.

  4. Lovely work! The repetition lent to a strong piece and I agree with others that it had a lyrical feel to it.

    Very nice.
