My Affections

My affections to whom it may concern
Is placed to one that can discern
Not praiseworthy things to conjure in return
Not by looking at my face
With no thought erased
Just for what is frail
Just for what is real

One can make promises
And be utterly romantic
One can afford ships
For that offer who denies must be a lunatic

My affections to whom it may concern
Is placed to one that can discern
Not praiseworthy things to conjure in return
Not by looking at my face
With no thought erased
Just for what is frail
Just for what is real

For words and people can bend their knees
For money we all beg and plead
For beauty we adorn with lovely gifts
For contentment we make fools of ourselves

My affections to whom it may concern
Is placed to one that can discern
Not praiseworthy things to conjure in return
Not by looking at my face
With no thought erased
Just for what is frail
Just for what is real

For what is real sometimes is hidden
Like depths of the ocean the surface is all but an illusion
What we normally project are just safe passageways
That speak not of danger
For we fear no one would linger
And forever we live only like strangers

My affections to whom it may concern
Is placed to one that can discern
Not praiseworthy things to conjure in return
Not by looking at my face
With no thought erased
Just for what is frail
Just for what is real
