Once upon a Time

A palette of watercolours and a brush.

life was once a colorful rainbow
there was red, blue, green and yellow
but “now” feels like the day
burning in amber
the sunset paints
a picture called sorrow.

treading down lanes where our paths met
your shadow erased
mine is stuck in cement
in needless dependence
this soul toils in wait
what is now gone
reveals something more than fate.

vanity speaks as ears stop to listen
for whatever decision
is devoid of good reason
some call it treason
but whatever it is…

life was once a colorful rainbow
there was red, blue, green and yellow
but “now” feels like the day
burning in amber
the sunset paints
a picture called sorrow.
