Today is our appointment

i felt footsteps,
and so i peered through the window,
lifting the curtains to peek on what/who was coming.

i saw shadows,
unable to make what i heard,
or saw,
into vivid shaped images.

i heard voices,
they spoke in the night,
but only soft breeze of whispers.

and then a knock,
I ran,
and opened,
said the figure,
“Today is our appointment,”
“My name is Sorrow.”

Appointments that many times we are unaware of for they come suddenly upon us, for at times we expect someone else but it’s Sorrow that we find. I liked the personification of it and the feeling of anxious expectation only to be met with an unwelcomed guest. πŸ™‚
